5 best places to put a vending machine

While there a number of great benefits that come along with vending machines, location is everything. Strategically placing machines in locations that are easily accessible for employees and customers, experience high foot traffic, and are safe and secure all play a critical role in maximizing the use of a vending machine.

Today we'll walk through each of these three factors and call out a few specific areas that produce great results with your vending machine.

1.Accessibility

If a vending machine is not accessible for your employees and customers, then it won't generate the use and volume you desire. For example, if a machine is placed in a location where only specific badged employees can access, then you may be missing out on use from visitors and customers within the facility. This is missed opportunities for not only increased revenue share, but also a missed chance to cater to your prospective customers and show you legitimately care. Vending machines need to be placed at locations within your facility that can be accessible by just about anyone within your business.

2.Foot traffic

In addition to being easily accessible, we also need to consider which locations in our facility will yield the highest amount of foot traffic.

Some questions to consider include: where do the majority of my employees & customers enter and leave the facility? Where do most of my employees & customers spend their daily time? Is there a waiting area? Lobby? Break rooms? Consider these and identify which specific areas create the most foot traffic.

3.Security

While our main goal is to maximize the amount of use and volume our machines generate, we also want to emphasize the importance of safety and security of those machines.

It's important to identify if there are security cameras in those locations and how open or secluded the area is. Taking this into consideration will only help us mitigate the chances of theft or destruction which can negatively impact the image of your business.

 Examples of Great Locations

Now that we've got an idea of the three major factors we should be considering, let's look at some specific locations that are best for placing vending machines:

  1. Lobbies

  2. Break rooms

  3. Waiting areas

  4. Hallways

  5. Entry ways & exits

The above five locations all are easily accessible by employees and customers, usually experience a high amount of foot traffic, and are generally easier to ensure safety and security. These are just a few of the many centrally located spots you'd find in just about any building or facility.
